February is Spay/Neuter Awareness Month!

February 18, 2013

Taking a moment out for a PSA. I initially heard about this on Facebook, then followed the link to the group Be the Change for Animals–you can follow the link over on the right. I am happy to help out any animal-friendly cause, and this seems like a good one. Just about anyone who adopts an animal from a shelter has it spayed or neutered, but if for some reason yours hasn’t been, please think about doing so! In the end, it is much better for the animal (Fluffy isn’t always on the prowl for some action), the owner (no four-legged hormones to deal with–aren’t two-legged ones bad enough?), and the house as a whole (no spraying and maybe less aggression and attacking of the furniture).

If I had the funds, I would love to help the ever-growing feral population by participating in a Trap, Neuter, and Return program. Someday! In the meantime, I will spread the news as best I can. And if you are looking for a companion animal, please visit your local shelter. We have had two rescue cats, and they have been the absolute best. And they are, of course, fixed!

In case I haven’t posted a picture of her before, here is our current cat, Zabar, curled up on my daughter’s pillow. We think she was actually trying to be subtle about her stalking of our new hamster.
